Thrifty Thursdays!
So this weeks topic is saving money on clothes.
We have two little ladies, and honestly, we buy almost everything USED! My girls are always dressed cute, their clothes match, they are cute and often dressed in name brands and we pay much less clothes. I also am given a ton of clothes from family and friends. We happily accept second hand clothes. I laugh that Lillian gets all her clothes used, and so does Katrina, the only difference is that Katrina knows who wore hers last. Whenever people offer us clothes I accept them, and if there are things in there that I don’t want or like, I just pass them along to someone else. Everyone has different tastes, and what you don’t like can be someone else’s cup of tea! Ultimately, you have to be okay with your kids wearing used clothes, and we are. We are environmental and we know that it’s great to reuse whenever possible and we do. Sometimes we have a hard time finding what exactly we are looking for but to get so much bang for our buck it well worth it, especially since kids outgrow clothes so fast right now.
We go one step further and actually buy a lot of our own clothes used too. Steve always joked that at work he sits at a desk and in meetings people only see his shirt, so he always buys his pants used (with the exception of a single pair of great jeans) and makes sure that his shirts all look amazing. For me, my pants and shirts come second hand. I am short so finding pants that are short enough for me and my size isn’t so hard used anymore, and for shirts, I am crazy picky and shaped in a way that if I take 12 shirts into a change room, I may pick 1 or 2 that I will actually like. So I love the difference in styles and such and can find something I like that looks amazing on me.
So next time you need a shirt or pants for something don’t be afraid to see if you can find some second hand. Cheaper, good for the environment, and lots of styles to pick from in one place!
