Finding the balance.
Last night when I went to bed I set everything up for running 21km this morning. As you can tell I’m not running. I had to take my dog to the vet at 9am and on my way back I started thinking. Running has become very important to me, so much infact that it often takes priority over other things. It seems the only thing that wins over running is Lillian. This morning I woke up with pretty sore legs and a bad headache, so on my way home I figured instead of 21km I’d just do 10km. Then I got really excited and I started to plan the day. I often do this day planning thing without discussing it with my husband, so it doesn’t always work out well. I started planning going out for breakfast, visiting the park with Lillian, etc.. and when I got home I found out my hubby wanted to do a 21km run today too. When we both do that distance it takes a minimum of 5 hours. So I was going to do 10km but my daughter was playing with my hair, and my legs hurt, and I said enough, I’m going to listen to my body and take today off too. I have my marathon in 2 weeks and the last time my legs were this sore was when I overtrained. So today I will rest and play with my daughter and take her to the park with my hubby to take family photos and all will be right with the world.
Hope you’re all enjoying the lovely sunshine, because as you can see we sure are!
- This is just plain crazy.
- Busy Busy day.
wow, 21KM!! I can’t wait until the day where I can even think of running 10KM, let alone double that. Your doing pretty awesome!!
Did you ever get shin splints? Any pointers? Any suggestions on good running shoes?
