Strength Training Maybe?
Okay, so I have been working hard on getting my core stretches in daily, and honestly so far so good. I’ve been rocking my hard runs, my long runs, and of course my easy runs, and honestly getting more than one full cross training in for a week so I thought maybe trying to squeeze in a bit of strength training around all my busy stuff.
I know that I don’t have a lot of extra time in the days, especially for the next month, so why not find a few good strength training exercises and try to squeeze them in once or maybe twice a week to build the other major muscles that are straggling a bit.
So I’ve gone to my tried and true, Another Mother Runner site to see what they suggest. They have several pretty simple to follow plans. I also googled it (naturally) and came up with a few different magazine options to follow. Mainly they all seem to have a combination of squats, lunges, pushups and plank. Sometimes they have multiple of any or all of these. UGH! I was hoping to have to do a bit a weight lifting and not more core work, but a few of these exercises actually overlap with my current physio workouts so it’s not all bad news.
I am guess I will have to write down how many of each I do and see where I’m in at say 6 weeks. Wish me luck, and I’ll keep you posted.
