Big changes today!
So many exciting things happened today!
I saw my physiotherapist today, and I am officially not broken! She fixed my back from pushing the stroller, so I’m not quite ready to push both girls on my own for half an hour but that’s okay. She checked both my knees to make sure that the left one was fine, and it was awesome too. So she approved my running plans and now I go back when my core is strong enough to hold plank and walk out without shaking. So I have something to build up to and when I hit it I see her to upgrade my exercises.
I other fitness news, I ran my first outside 35 minute run and I broke 5km and my overall pace was 6:58 which is the second time sub-7 minutes both of which were outside!! Hehe. So I am so excited to have hit 5km finally and I look forward to many more runs that will allow me to break that magic number that just makes me happy and let’s me feel like I’m back again.
Finally, today was my citizenship ceremony. The judge talked about how many people came her from struggling countries, fled from war or famine, gave up their careers, their family, their friends to get a fresh start in Canada, and I did not. I moved here when I was two and my parents gave up their lives, and family and friends so my dad could come here for work. Viticulturalist (grape growers) didn’t really study in Canada in the 1980’s. So they made those sacrifices, and honestly we would have been fine had we stayed in Germany. But now I have a husband in Canada, my daughters are Canadian and after spending 27 or my 29 years growing up here I am more Canadian than I ever have been German. So while the ceremony today may be a big deal to a lot of people, to me it only gave me the paperwork to prove what I have always felt in my heart. I always have been a Canadian, I just have the documentation to go along with it.
